SmartFTP

On install, this does not show file permissions by default.
From the top menu, click View, then Select Details, and click on Permissions.

SmartFTP does show hidden files.

This shows the file 'birthday' which is inside directory 'cake'.
The Directory view in SmartFTP is to the left of where you see this.
The dotted line under "Permissions" shows it has file Properties of 0.

Right click the file, and select 'Properties/CHMOD'.

This is the 'CHMOD' box. You are going to alter the file properties.
The box that pops up has 2 methods of entering the correct number.

Tick the boxes, or enter the required number.

You will now see that the dotted line shows the permissions you have applied.
That file has been CHMOD'ed to 766
