Welcome to the WordPress Tutorial Series!

This series of articles is designed to help make the necessary adjustments to your uploaded files in order to get your WP installation working.
There are many ftp programs, and several different flavours of server. The server side of affairs should not matter if you can correctly use your ftp client. The screenshots focus only on that part of the client that matter for reasons of clarity.

In these examples, the directory is called 'cake', and the file it contains is called 'birthday.html'. This file could be any sort of file - cgi / php / js. It is also named as such to prevent any confusion with files that you have to alter.
There is also a hidden file in that directory, and the guide will show you how to get your client to display them.

If your ftp client is not listed below, please do read some of the guides as the navigation inside these programs could be similar. If you are still unsure, do not hesitate to post to the Support Forums. Guides for other clients will be added should the demand be there.

Should you find errors or omissions, please do not hesitate to post your findings on the WordPress Support forums.
