I don’t use Mail, I’ve never used Mail, I’ve never run it, I would never run it. I have never given it permission to run, it’s not in my login items. So wtf is it doing running? Is this one of those ‘Apple knows best’ moments? I probably can’t install it – like so many other Apple apps it seems – but I’m certainly out now for a way to cripple it into submission – it will not connect.

I need an answer and I think it could be in a geocaching forum. As a guest I am not allowed to search the forum. So I register. And now I find that not only can I not post for 24 hours I still cannot search. Great. So, here’s the thing – if in 24 hours I haven’t found the answer then the absolute last damn thing I’m going to do is search this new forum. I’m just going to ask. If I have searched for a day I really don’t want to continue. I don’t care if whoever reads it knows that the answer is on the front page, or that I need to go elsewhere or that “insert anything at all”. Fact is that this forum has gone out of it’s way to be unhelpful and allowing a search if registered would have helped not hindered. It’s information, it’s free and it should be allowed to be seen. And if it’s the forum software that keels over because of any sort of search (that’s Invision then) then they should get something that works. Groundspeak.

“Google has officially proclaimed that it doesn’t like webmasters trying to hawk their lofty PageRank status to other sites.”

Cutts also says that if webmasters want to continue selling links, Google’s not stopping them: “Webmasters are welcome to make their sites however they like, but Google in turn reserves the right to protect the quality and relevance of our index.”

Okay, so as those links are still in the sidebar (though fewer) and as you rank my site as being less important (and I never claimed it to be important anyway) and as you will be returning this domain is less search results (which you can) then how about you stop sucking the bandwidth? Every month Googlebot sucks in massive amounts of bandwidth compared to the size of the site. It leeches. Even though MY benefit drops, it still wants to suck that data. I know I can change the crawl rate in htaccess, but it should be a deal that they want less of me, I want less of them. I don’t give a damn that I have the bandwidth, it’s the f*cking principle. Less important? Visit less then.

What a complete nonsense.
McLaren are fined $100 million because they made a car with cheated knowledge
McLaren are stripped of their points because they made a car with cheated knowledge
Yet the drivers of the cars are allowed to keep the points.
Now how the fuck does THAT work then?

Answer:
Mosley and Ecclestone want Hamilton in the race

I trust that every Italian is rejoicing that their icon is seen to be right.

Formula 1 just fucked up royally.

–

If 3 weeks ago I’d seen that Sky had the rights to F1 for next season I’d have got Sky.
I’ve missed few races.
I’ve posted and discussed in forums.
I’ve spent money on tickets and merchandise.
No different to tens of thousands of other people but this judgement is stupid. They want a black driver and they’ll do everything they possibly can to get that black driver.

The whole thing stinks.

Jean Todt admits that the Stepneygate scandal is sullying the good name of F1, but is adamant that the truth must come out. (and whose truth is that?)

When asked whether he felt that McLaren deserved to be excluded from the Championship, Todt explained that the Italian marque had no particular outcome in mind. (Really?)

Referring to the first hearing in July Todt said: “The decision [not to punish McLaren] was not appropriate. (But he had no outcome in mind…)

The CEO of Scuderia warned that legal action would continue even if the hearing exonerated McLaren.
“No, I mean really, for us it is something which is too important and we will move forward in Italy … and move on with the civil case in the UK as well.” (In other words he won’t accept anything BUT what he calls victory) (and that means he DOES have an outcome in mind)

“It’s a taint on the sport. (says the squat one despite the fact that Ferrari and Schumacher cheated more and gave team orders when they were banned.)

From Jackie Stewart: “There are more Ferrari representatives on the World Council than anybody else, and it seems that some of the most powerful people in this sport are more aligned to Ferrari than anybody else.”

The head of Williams: “Sir Frank Williams believes the FIA have embarked on their quest in this saga with “enormous tenacity”.

and this piece of absolute bollocks from the top fool at Ferrari:

Luca di Montezemolo claims that Ferrari would be deserving Champions should McLaren be excluded from the title race.

What the other teams should do is what they did in Indianapolis – just let the red cars go.

planet-f1 (and many other sites. The rotund one isn’t liked by many right now..)

Shift+any other key is fine

v+Cmd will work but – obviously – throws a v at the start and it’s not meant to work like that anyway.
r+ShiftShiftShiftShift might work.

Mac forums are without a clue
restarting – a daily event here now with the ‘oh so stable’ mac does not work
running onyx does not work

It’s an apple keyboard
I dismantled the (stupidly assembled) thing and cleaned it fully a couple of weeks ago. It is NOT the reason.

So, why has the wondrous OS X decided to start crumbling even further? Any ideas?

Can Ubuntu be installed on a mac mini? If it can, I may well. (Yes it can. Dual boot? No. I have no loyalty to OS X. It’ll be the whole HD).

Update: What appears to happen – because I had this happen before – is that OS X forgets just what language settings are in use. So curing it involved choosing another language in the International prefs, then choosing the proper one again. When it happened before I posted to the apple forums I followed up within the hour to say it was working again. No-one replied that it was a known issue. Which means it isn’t, it doesn’t happen and I have a lemon?
Apart from Parallels, ubuntu is looking good……
