What makes you happy ?

See that arrow ? the red thing ? I have just spent the best part of 90 minutes if not longer trying to get the gimp to make something like it. An arrow. It’s easy in Paint Shop Pro – menu, shape, arrow, draw. Gimp ? no way… must be it’s Linux roots ;) I need to do some screen-capping and I need arrows. I have a feeling I’ll be installing (my purchased) PSP tomorrow…. not a lot to ask is it … just an arrow…

Spoke to the bank today. They have the first call which was not an issue, and they now have to find and listen to the second. IF I want to hear it they have to send it to my local branch and I can listen to it there. So IF I do, I will record it to my Zen somehow. When I rang though, I said to the (very nice) lady that something ought to happen when they found out I was lied to / mislead / whatever, and her first response was “We will have a training issue to address”. I put her right … No, you will have just what you have now – a very unhappy customer who feels very angry at the bank and who does not feel any happier because he has identified a training deficit for the National Westminster Bank. She agreed. But the real problem is a Little Britain one – the computer says No. Every person in every bank uses that as an excuse – but who put those two letters in ? Who makes it says that ? Who can make the computer say Yes ? Who does the computer bow down to ? Would it really take a multi-million pound lottery win for the computer to say “Hmmm…. maybe. How much was it again ?”. Makes me think of bankers as some sort of prostitutes’ collective as they are only in it for the money and to screw the customer for all they have (sorry Gary!). Imagine being told Yes by Meg Ryan in that film and soon after being told No by Michael Corleone. That’s how different it was. Training issue bollocks. I’ll get an apology, I’ll keep at them until they give me a few quid and then I’ll push them for more. And then … dunno. I’m the little guy. bah.

And I’m unwell and coming down with something. How do I know ? My ear cartilage piercings are playing up and both sides are painful. I sleep very carefully.

(And there is a new page at the guides that covers wrapping plugin functions and the Testtrack blog has been chiselled at by me because of some jokers trying to play with things. I’m surprised it took this long…)

That’s picking on girls which could be unfair but the portrayal (for me) of the absolutely perfect girl seems to be more prevalent. Certainly with my two and the magazines they get there is this ‘perfection’ ideal which is pushed. So this link to FluidEffect wasn’t just interesting – more like a “Kids really should know the magic that is used”. Adults too I suppose … Agree to the copyright thing, and when you are in click the before/after. When a chosen image is fully loaded click and hold the ‘Before’ link. Some changes are large (thighs!) but others are very subtle indeed.

BT decided some wires between Leicester and Coventry looked far too efficient at midday – so they lopped 75% of them away. They did this just as I realised that uploading images that were around 2meg to the gallery was not the wisest thing given the explosion in disc space usage. So it’s been a slow day online…. and frustrating at times. Still, after the discussion a couple of posts below I used the time to scan this machine everywhere and it’s as clean as a very shiny pan :) Not that it wasn’t of course.

So the gallery directory has been renamed – Catch – and all the images sized down to 800*600. For some reason I can’t get comments going on it (typical install, it should work). Then I decided after a while I didn’t want comments because of any spam problems. But then I wanted the comments to work so I could then stop them working rather than not getting them in the first place. ‘Bloody minded’ is what it’s called. And themes – must find a decent one.

We managed to pay for J’s electric scooter and it was delivered today. The psychological impact of that being in the house though was far larger than I anticipated – to be honest I hadn’t even predicted it – which lead to some unexpected emotions. Of course seeing it is a lot lot easier than using it – that is a major barrier which I can’t see being overcome for a long time.
Scenario #1: “I’m stuck in the house and I can’t get out”
Scenario #2: “I’m stuck in the house and I’m not using that”
All it does is shift the focus. Still ….. if we can get another me and the girls can have Mario Kart style tournaments :)

The gallery has had another few images added as I continue in my quest to take more and hope the odd one is good. I’m sure I’ve a very fine tremor which is only showing because when I click I’m having to be still. the tremor has been seen before but was worse, so it’s a possibility. Anyway, the images that are there – yes some are crap but then if I don’t keep bad I’ll not know better will I ? All the images will be “by-nc-sa” and that’ll be added somewhere.

I am very very pissed off at certain things online – no prizes for guessing eh ? But hey, who gives one.

All the ‘Donate’ buttons have gone from the site and if I can be bothered I’ve a few new additions planned for the guides.

Top tip of the day: Putting a handful of maltesers on an external HD simply because it has edges and they won’t roll off isn’t wise.
