After a tablet.

I’m in the market for a graphics tablet and the Bamboo from Wacom seems to fit the bill. It’s got 4 programmable buttons and the reviews are pretty good. This is not for high-end Photoshop use – far from it – but I’m wondering if anyone else has used one? We have a Volito for the PC which is nice but (1) it’s aimed at kids and (2) it’s used by them. It also has no mac drivers. Wacom do seem to be the people to go with – or is this model bettered?

I still have my old trusty Wacom Graphire (the 1st model in sky blue) which has served me well over the years for basic Photoshop use. It’s taken some abuse too in terms of being dropped etc, but it is a very simple model with no buttons on the tablet itself so I think that’s why it’s survived.
Can’t offer much advice on newer models, but I would say my small tablet does feel a little bit too small now with the bigger hi-res monitor I now use.
Or why not try this: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~johnny/projects/wii/
Third one down should do the job ;-)

Terry – timely! Didn’t have you down as a LJ guy :)
And thanks for the email about the little jackets!
cjp – the bigger ones do look good but wow – pricey. It really is an expensive game. That’s why the above looks so good for the price it is, and it’s not like I need so many different pressures.
The Wii stuff does look cool. I really hope Nintendo don’t start locking the console down.

Just noticed the link to Amazon. They say that it should be delivered in 2 to 4 weeks… Whenever I have ordered anything from them with that I never get it.
You eventually get an e-mail from them apologising that they can’t source it.
Tried to get Oliver a ‘Hairy Maclary’ dvd, that was about 3 months ago, still waiting!

I got the Bamboo. I read even more reviews and in the end for it’s price it looked really good.
The jackets – the grip is much better, so much that they aren’t going anywhere. But changing the batteries is a bugger. Got to peel the jacket off.
