Ron who?

I can’t be the only brit to keep seeing loads on blog posts about some guy in the USA called Ron Paul. According to some he’s great but then so is Bush / Guiliani etc. Mr Paul also believes in creationism. Whatever. There’s so much noise about him changing US politics. And yet in this article about the US election, there is no mention of Ron Paul at all. He’s not even hinted at. So either a respected and knowledgeable BBC corespondent has no clue, or the blogs are doing nothing but inflating the impossible. I go with the latter. But hey, I’m a brit, what do I know about it :)

his entire fan base is on the internet. he slaughters internet polls, but comes in at a marginal percent in “IRL” polls. Some of his fans have resorted to automated blog spam and other horrible things (justly fed to akismet), so I wouldn’t doubt that while IRL polls aren’t catching his target demographic, the internet polls are seriously gamed.

He’s in single-digits of support, but his supporters (me among them) support him fairly passionately, because he’s the only candidate advocating a “government should stay out of people’s lives” approach, both domestically and abroad. He wants the U.S. out of Iraq (and the 100+ other countries where we have a military presence), out of our doctor’s offices, out of our bedrooms, and out of our wallets. He’ll do better than phone polling would indicate (because his support runs deep and polls just measure width of support), but worse than Internet “polls” indicate, because Internet polls over-value depth and are susceptible to gaming. My only semi-realistic hope is that at least he’ll keep the principle of non-intervention on the table, since all of the Republican candidates and most of the Democratic candidates have simply accepted the idea of an all-powerful government that uses its military and police might to accomplish its goals.
He’s fairly well supported by non-Americans, because he’s the only one suggesting that America treat the rest of the world as a collection of sovereign nations with which to freely trade, and not an unruly playground that is somehow our job to “fix.”

Is that as opposed to the current administration or overall?
I don’t recall him being mentioned on TV here, but I do recall the others. Just today Hillary’s address somewhere was broadcast on Sky.
Is he keeping himself under the radar? Or just not trying hard to pop up? Or is it a media thing where he is at the edge and a curiosity?

I am a Veteran for Peace, IVAW, VAT/Squadron13. The new Dr. Paul persons in ’07 consisted of a white, undereducated, breeders of unwashed/unwatched children, I said Dr. Paul because the DOCTAH’ nonsense is when YOU RUN! I am from Philly, VFP some IVAW help 2 X a year of course veterans day[that's when Vets march in Parades, WTF IDK they get city ordinances to prevent us. We in my area, the kids home from Iraq and Afghanistan are way PTSD and TBI from Stop Loss X 7 @ 18 month clips, too profoundly destroyed. We pay from what we have for permits on the mall on Independence Hall, make grave markers for all Murdered Troops involved in the Illegal Occupation of Iraq and the nonofourbusines[not a moron, bi-polar, not an idiot, ran the words purposefully]sectarian conflict + The Poppy thing, CodePink had their Peace Quilt with Iraqi and Afghanistani MURDERED. We mark and measure out an Arlinton grid, place each child’s marker with their photo and DoD in the ground. VFP and the Pinks are non-profs, as am I. BHAM! C’mon this was Philly, white on rice so white they were with there placards hopping over what were in essence TOMBSTONES, acting as it were a playground. Paul with an entourage sets up a big tushy tent, yes there were much White Supremacy Groups amok, he did his whatever, they milled through gravemarkers as they left without a glance as Gold Star families for Peace cried to the Heaven where one never will hear a reply for their 19 year old babies, Ron never took a nanosecond to show his respect for the Troops, slain Iraqis, murdered Afghanistani’s. This put our non-prof’s in jeopardy for it appeared we as well were Paulist’s. Shameful, with his all zygote’s are wee babies and must live albeit my anatomy does this much better! But the slain 3,5 and 6 year old “Collateral Damage” were in his face. Quite the Champion for all, yeah?
