Make it faster / better.

The mini and newly-reinstalled Tiger are faster (just like a newly reinstalled XP..) but this time around, instead of me fiddling around I’ll ask - is there anything I could / should / should not do to make the machine work better or faster?
I’m not short on space so that isn’t a factor.

Mark recently upgraded to Leopard off my Tiger install and that went pretty well. It was faster than Tiger, but a bootcamp issue caused me to just backup and scrub. I reinstalled Leopard and it is at least 50% faster now.
That amazing stat has me thinking that some of the programs that I didn’t reinstall were the problem for my slowness. I am now a little hesitant about installing so many programs.
I also wonder if part of the problem isn’t defragging the drive? The complete reinstall did that for me. I know there is a program called iDefrag that I am looking at because I wonder if Apple just has issues with slow drives once the drive gets data all over it. My 2 cents.

I did a zero erase thing (I forget the term) before I installed, and this time I’ve obviously had no need to play with apps as I know what I want.
Leopard? When it gets the service pack it would seem to need from what I’m reading. And also when I know for a act it will work well on the mini. It’s all much slower on the mini than the laptop so I don’t need it any worse.
And defrags are always good, regardless :)
