Dreaded Blue Screen of Death mars some Leopard installs
It’s still not clear what’s causing the snafu. Seems at least some of the the people experiencing problems had a third-party developer app called Application Enhancer installed ……. To recover, users were instructed to rip “Ape,” short for Application Enhancement, from the Leopard’s maw. The process is too gory for us to print here, but suffice it to say that, among other things, it had users use a command line to purge files with names like “Enhancer.prefpane” and “com.unsanity.ape.plist.”
Just works eh?

I installed Leopard last night without any problems. As I recall APE has warnings all over it that it can potentially do bad things to your system. It injects code into already running processes. There is deep magic there that I wouldn’t trust during an upgrade.

if they update their shit properly. APE was updated to 2.0.3 back in March, and the only people who are having this problem haven’t updated. Sigh..

It’s not all APE - other stuff is also killing things.
And hey, if all went smoothly I wouldn’t be able to have a dig at Apple would I? :)
