Not a tasteless joke

Channel 4 just finished a “The World’s Most Offensive Joke” program and perhaps not surprisingly there was little that seemed close to the edge. The sickest though …. there was a radio phone-in some years back where they said they would broadcast all the sick jokes they were sent. I phoned this one in and they refused to use it. It’s from a University Rag Mag.
What’s the worst thing about having a heart-lung transplant? Coughing up someone else’s phlegm.

Personally — I too think it’s funny… I was in a little discussion group and I brought up that particular little concept — it got a few chuckles and a number of OOOoohhh GROSS!! comments… That was 5 or 6 months before I got my new lungs and the little “discussion group” was our lung transplant support group…
Looking back on things — it wasn’t that bad really… My lung capacity was 10% of expected for a few years before I got my beautiful new lungs… Some of my last pulmonary function tests said it’s at around 110% of expected now! In the grand scheme of things — it’s worth hocking up a few of someone else’ loogies…
Thanks for the laugh… some of my story, and a tribute to the precious girl whose lungs I breathe with is at http://www.ClimbingForKari.org
Take care!

Congrats Steve on both getting the treatment and your excellent recovery.
And of course, you are right.
