3 weeks.

One burnt ribbon in the mac mini and it’s taking 3 weeks to fix.
It’s one ribbon.
Amazing amount of time for the simplest of jobs.

The most annoying thing? I’d got two programs in trial and both will now be out of trial and I can’t repeat. Marvellous.

If this was a post about Dell people would tear them to bits for the delay.

    • Have you been on their case this whole time? I can’t believe it’d take this long.

    • It’s now 2 weeks. I’m told next Friday should be okay.
And it really is just a ribbon.

    • it’s probably just the pos repair place in the uk. i’ve had to ship my ibook in and had it back within the week, and they had to replace the mobo.

    • that’s not to say it isn’t outrageous, it is, but just saying that isn’t the norm.

    • cameron – it may well not be the norm but it’s still a stupidly long time and for me is evidence of why a sole supplier is a bad bad thing, even Apple.

    • Ouch, that’s outrageous. I can understand your frustration, I’d be hopping mad by now. I’ve not long bought an imac, don’t know what I’d do if I had to be without it for that length of time.

    • A smart company would transplant your disk and have your computer ready the same day.

My friend Fredo was one of the first to get a Mac Book Pro. It came with a dead battery. He took it to the store and they told him it was going to be a ridiculous amount of time to get a replacement, something like 6 weeks. His response was, “you mean like the working battery in this display model”? As they watched, he took the battery out of the display model, put in his fault battery, and walked out.

I continue to regularly hear stories of Mac Books being lemons, and rediculous service times, but this is the first iMac fatality I have heard of — it knew you were not part of the Cult of the Mac.
