CCTV footage has been released which shows a police officer repeatedly punching a young woman outside a Sheffield nightclub …. Ms Comer, from Sheffield, was being arrested last July for damaging a car – an offence she has since admitted. BBC
The woman is complaining and the police are saying they’ll investigate. Nothing unusual there… but at the end of that item we have this:
In a statement, South Yorkshire Police said:
“It is worth noting that as a result of the original incident the individual was convicted of a criminal offence.”
Now they would never have said that if the individual had been found innocent. That statement just would not have been made. So taking it that way, what that statement by the Police really actually means is “so what if we beat her up, she had it coming”. It means that South Yorkshire Police are condoning violence by their officers if someone is guilty at the time they decide she is guilty.

Hi…I saw that WAY BACK you talked about converting from Greymatter to Wordpress. I pretty much gave up on one of my blogs (geekly.com) because Greymatter was such an ugly POS. Since then I’ve started a couple Wordpress blogs, but I don’t have any idea how I’d go about doing a conversion to get the geekly.com stuff moved over to WP. Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated!
