Defeated by a red tag

Intending on an early night I was just the wrong side of sleep for ages so got up to watch a film. Decided on The Departed which I bought last week. Get the box, remove wrapper and find the red tag is still there. Damn. I tried many things before hitting Google and finding a guide to removing dvd red tags. I’ve got two pairs of ceramic magnets but even they couldn’t help remove it and I tried for ages to get it free. I even debated destroying the box but I’ve no cases that hold 2 discs and I couldn’t damage the sleeve (my copy of Men in Black I got cheap because they’d lost the sleeve. It feels so much less of a film because of that. So much in fact that I’ll replace it with a new buy.) So in the end I gave up. I rang HMV and they said to just bring it in to change which I’ll do Monday.
It looked so easy in the stores though, the way they slide it out. I knew magnets were involved but it’s a neat bit of kit.
Watched The Manchurian Candidate. Now why were people raving about that? I bought it (£5 so it’s no loss) on the basis of chat I’d seen/heard from others and the box ratings. It wasn’t dire but it’s certainly filed in the “Will never watch again” section.

Whoa, I just watched “The Manchurian Candidate.” I thought it was crazy! The mind games…wow! Oh well, to each his own. :)

I enjoyed the original Manchurian Candidate more than the remake. Never seen a “red tag” … I think the main anti-theft device used here is the little stick-on thing put inside the case that sets off the alarm at the door. They kill that by swiping it over a demagnetizer of some sort at the register.

Plot Holes:
- why get those 2 to kill the others? It made no sense that no-one else was asked and the matter was barely referred to.
- he can’t have had a proper shower for years if he only just found the implant.
- he needs a knife to get it from his own back yet he can nip it out from Shaw’s back with his teeth
- why not just kill him?
- Shaw. why the thing in his head? He already had one in his back
- the electronics guy. He disappears. Nothing is said and the view of his area is one not previously used before. It seemed very token.
- the painted women. Where did they come from?
- the ‘feds’. The woman in the background during an interview. Like that would happen – they’d be after every freak in the US
- if they knew he was trouble and they didn’t want to kill him, why let him near Shaw?
- a funny grin from the floor means “Hey, why don’t you shoot me and my mom because that will make everything better” when he has been told already he has one target.
- one bullet which is meant to kill one person, no mention is made that it’s special yet it kills 2 people
- 2 people fall to the floor and no-one notices for a while
- he takes ages to start to life the gun to shoot himself
- the fed comes in and shoots him in the left shoulder but he has the gun in the right and could still shoot himself.
And the above was from one viewing :)
