Google's stated goal is the categorizing of <em>all</em> the information in the world. Paraphrased. There is a wide berth. The internet is fun, sure. But, according to it's inventor, <smirk>Al Gore</smirk> this information is only on the super highway, and there are many, many other roads. . . What abhout the information transmitted on cell phones? in Medical Records? through Voting? We have seen phreakers have phun with phones. Medical records are sacrosanct - are they really private information? Voting is a privledge and a right now sought to be optimized through electronics. Google seems to forgotten this aspect of information: Self-Knowledge. I give them poor marks. Okay. Well . . .

The cosy hardware platform / MS duopoly is another mess in its own right. I wish we could just buy *very good computers*. The OS should be a different thing entirely. Whilst I have no doubt the Google know their "stuff" when it comes to internet specific apps, they just don't have the know how of hardware support to get us through the next few years. In other words, Microsoft is about to be overshadowed by Google, and then the US DoJ will sue them for monopolistic business practises, right? Right now there are a couple of highschool students hacking away at the <em>next big thing</em> and by the time they graduate from university, they will have created the foundation for Google's nemesis. <em>"May you live in interesting times..."</em> a wise person once said.
