Then there is the fact that there is no community like the WP community (of which you are the axle :) ). I started learning PHP about the same time I started using WP, and at no point have I felt discouraged, or even neglected by the WP community. This, in my opinion, is one reason why WP is a superior blogging tool -- In addition to getting a spankin' neat blog system, you also get to learn PHP, one of the most popular scripting languages, a transferable skill, if I may say so.
